WSAS is a multidisciplinary population-based longitudinal study on obstructive airway diseases and allergies in adults. WSAS started in 2008 and involves research from cellular mechanisms to clinical and population epidemiological studies.

OLIN is an epidemiological research program about asthma, allergy and COPD, ongoing since 1985. The OLIN studies includes both children and adults and so far, around 50,000 individuals have participated.

CWS is a population-based longitudinal birth cohort study investigating the modifiable risk factors for asthma and allergy in children. CWS started in 2003, when children were recruited at the age of 6 months. A new birth cohort was established in 2018.

The BAMSE project is an ongoing longitudinal, population-based prospective birth cohort including 4,089 children born between 1994 and 1996 in Stockholm, Sweden. The cohort was initially designed to study risk factors for allergic disease in childhood.

SNAR investigates patients with asthma and COPD from primary and secondary care and hospitalized COPD patients. In 2020 a database was created, linking to other Swedish national health registers, creating a unique opportunity to study obstructive lung diseases.

The IDEFICS/I.Family youth cohort is a longitudinal study of children from 9 European countries including Sweden, with focus on determinants of healthy body weight. The Swedish sub-cohort was recruited in 2007 at ages 2-9 and has been followed until 2021.

SCIFI-PEARL is a nationwide linked longitudinal multi-register, regularly updated, observational study for timely response to urgent scientific questions regarding SARS-CoV-2 and the COVID-19 pandemic.

BOLD was initiated in 2006 to investigate the prevalence and burden of COPD, with 4 centres in Northern Europe participating. A follow-up was done in 2020 to study changes in lung function and incidence of chronic airflow obstruction and COPD.

A longitudinal study of respiratory health and allergy across 6 centres in Northern Europe, primarily conducted by questionnaires and subsamples undergoing clinical investigations. RHINE is ongoing since 1990 with follow-ups in 2000, 2010, and 2022.
