A platform for collaborations in respiratory research in Sweden

Annual research meetings

The Breathe Sweden Annual Meeting has three overarching goals:

  1. Appraise progress made over the last 12 months. Here we assess the work of the consortium as a whole and the progress made by the different working groups.
  2. Give young researchers within the consortium the opportunity to present findings from their research projects through oral and poster presentations.
  3. Make strategic plans on the future programs of the consortium.

The annual meeting is held during early spring of each year and hosting is rotated between participating study centers. It provides a platform for various research exchanges and interactions, consolidation of ongoing collaborations, and establishment of new ones. It allows the consortium’s working groups to meet in person to continue ongoing projects and plan new ones. Each working group is allowed the opportunity to present before all members of the consortium the progress made and key findings from ongoing projects. Strategic planning of the future of the consortium includes constitution of a new steering committee (done every other year), planning of research programs of the consortium as a whole and those of individual working groups, and identification and establishment of more strategic national and international collaborations. Usually, keynote speakers are invited to speak on topics that provide motivation for the activities of the consortium and synchronization of its research efforts. The inaugural meeting was held in Gothenburg in April 2024.
